4.2 Blood Death Knight Tanking Spec:
Blood Tree
0/2 Butchery: You will not be having Runic problems, plus on boss fights its pretty silly to have this in your spec.
3/3 Blood Barrier: Your Blood Runes will always be on cool down, which means with this skill you will gain a 6% damage reduction buff. A MUST skill.
3/3 Bladed Armor: Not very vital, but in the long run this skill comes in handy. It increases your attack power by 6 for every 180 armor. More attack power, more damage, faster you down a boss.
2/2 Improved Blood Tap: Reduces the cool down of your blood tap by 30 seconds. Another no brainer.
3/3 Scent of Blood: A 15% after dodge, parry, or damage to gain 10 runic power for the next three melee swings, sign me up! This is the reason why you will not have problems with runic power.
2/2 Scarlet Fever: Your blood plague also debuffs the target with 10% reduced physical damage. An obvious want skill due to the fact we are so squishy.
0/2 Hand of Doom: If your raid comp does not have any good interrupters or your prefer to do it yourself take this skill, otherwise it is not needed.
0/3 Blood-Caked Blade: Despite having cake in the name and boosting our damage we do not want this skill. We are looking for survivability, not damage.
1/1 Bone Shield: Reduced damage taken, increased damage dealt, and when glyphed increase run speed? Better click this skill in your build.
3/3 Toughness: Anything to make us stronger, plus it stacks with Bladed Armor. So stronger and hit harder.
0/2 Abomination’s Might: This is a take on need basis skill. If you do not have the buff provided by your raid it is a good idea to respec with this in your build.
2/2 Sanguine Fortitude: Makes our defensive cool down more effective and easier to use.
2/2 Blood Parasite: This is a very good skill for survivability and aoe heals for your raid, however, not necessary a must have skill. If you need to shift points you could do so with this skill.
2/2 Improved Blood Presence: Increases runic generation and reduces critical change against you. Go ahead and spend those points.
3/3 Will of the Necropolis: I can not tell you how many times this skill saved me. Now that we are getting into the juicy skills of Blood Death Knights this and a few other skills are going to be vital to your build.
1/1 Rune Tap: I remember the good ol’ days when this skill was obtainable by every spec, but that was then. This skill is also needed for Will of the Necropolis so grab it, its the best point you will spend in your spec.
1/1 Vampiric Blood: Increases the Death Knights health and healing received, when glyphed it just increases healing received. Either way a very good skill.
3/3 Improved Death Strike: This skill puts your Death Strike on steroids. More damage, more crit, more health returned. Gotta love it.
1/1 Dancing Rune Weapon: Mirrors your skills adding damage and helps you parry a very useful skill.
Frost Tree
3/3 Runic Power Mastery: Comes in handy having the extra pool of runic power.
2/2 Icy Reach: Really just a skill to get us to Lichborne, no other use and better then the next skill.
0/3 Nerves of Steel Cold: Silly Blood Death Knight dual wielding is for Frost.
0/3 Annihilation: Don’t use Obliteration and we are not a DPS spec, pass.
1/1 Lichborne: Ah this is what we are looking for. Not really for its benefits of immunity from cc, but the fact we can heal ourself with death coils.
0/2 On a Pale Horse: This is more of a PVP option, no real use in tanking.
0/2 Endless Winter: Ditto “On a Pale Horse”
Unholy Tree
0/2 Unholy Command: No point in tanking.
0/3 Virulence: Once again we are not a DPS we are tanks. Bad tank no choose this skill, bad!
3/3 Epidemic: More disease uptime less GCD’s wasted reapplying them.
0/2 Desecration: No point, a PvP skill obviously.
0/2 Resilient Infection: Ditto Desecration.
0/3 Morbidity: Would be a nice skill, however, can not get to it and still have Lichborne so sorry!
