World of Warcraft + Mathematics = WoW!

So the other day I read that World of Warcraft has hit around 11.5 million users and is continually growing. Being curious at the time I was wondering how much money does Blizzard real in from this addicting game? The facts were just a little shocking to say the least.
After dusting off the calculator I got down to some number crunching. If there is 11.5 million users with active subscriptions how much does WoW make a year? Well the three plans available for payment vary from 15$, 13$, and 11$ If you pay 15$ a month you yourself give Blizzard 180$. Which just looking at that isn’t that bad. Times that by 11.5 million and you start to see the big picture. 2,070,000,000$ a year, but! Being a well rounded math student I understand that this value cannot accurately measure Blizzards income. A mean of all three payments can. For those of you that pay around 13$ a month you give Blizzard 156$ Times 11.5 million users 1,794,000,000$. And last, but not least for those of you that pay 11$ a month you give Blizzard 132$ a year. In grand total 1,518,000,000$ a year. Taking the mean of all three totals we get an average of 1,842,666,670$ Not bad, not bad at all. Dividing that by 12 you get 153,555,556$ a month. But it doesn’t stop there 38,388,889$ a week 5,484,127$ a day, 228,505$ an hour, 3,808$ a min, 63$ a second. DAMN. I am at a loss for words and I am sure you are to right about now. The company Blizzard is worth more a second then most people hourly. LOL. How would you like it if your boss came in your office and said, ” I am giving you a raise, hmm hows 228,505$ an hour sound?” I would be scrubbing toilets with my tongue at that rate. Would definitely put in some over time with that rate no problem. So the ball is in your court now. Just think about this next time you go to play wow. Maybe even type /played and see how much money you have made Blizzard over your character life.

I have tried to do something similar to this before, work out how much Blizzard was earning, and its not that surprising. And, by the way, they know have 15 million players – a significant amount of money to add onto your current figure.
